Tips for Using Microsoft Word 2013 (3 of 4)
The Clipboard Can Hold Multiple Items
One of the limitations of the Windows clipboard is that it can only hold 1 item at a time. Welcome to the Word version, it can hold over 20 items in temporary storage. To access the clipboard, Select Home and then the drop-down arrow next to the clipboard. Word will display all the items currently in “Clipboard Storage” for you. This enables you to cut, copy and paste several items anywhere in your document.
Translate On The Go
Need to work in multiple languages? MSWord uses the Microsoft Translator to handle the translations. To enable translation, select the Review tab and click on the Translate button and select Translate Document or Translate Selected Text, or choose to translate with the Mini Translator.
Fine Tune Your Text with the use of Kerning
Kerning, often used in advanced graphic tools such as Adobe Photoshop or Illustrator, adjusts the spacing between individual letters for a more pleasing appearance. In MSWord, kerning is switched off by default. When working with large fonts such as those for a title etc, kerning can fine tune the look to achieve the desired letter to letter spacing. If you want to adjust your text to exactly fill a fixed space, kerning is just the ticket!
On the Home Tab select Font, or use the Ctrl+D shortcut. Select the checkbox for Kerning and begin experiment with the point size to achieve the desired result.
